Bangkok street
food Chinatown:
Eating
(late) made easy
Could you imagine that the busy gold trading
Yaowaraj road during the day can become a lively
street food at night? Well, it is, and possibly the biggest street food in
Bangkok.
Chinatown never sleeps. Right after all shops
are closed, this community becomes a street
food. Yaowaraj road, the heart of Chinatown,
is jam packed with all kinds of food vendors selling
fish maw, chestnuts, shark's fin, bird's nest, etc. One of
the crowded spots I'd recommend you
to visit is on Padungdao
road, a seafood restaurant named TK. TK's also
has street food stalls which are always mobbed with eaters
hungry for dishes like Pla Pao (BBQ fish,) Tom Yum
Koong, and Goong Pao (BBQ shrimp.) Along with
street food, Chinatown also has a popular fruit
market, further across from TK restaurant. A
great place to try a variety of tropical Thai fruits
after your yummy dinner.
If you'd like to try Chinese (or even Thai) food in
Chinatown, consider going at night. You'll be
bordered with countless choices.
Hours: recommended 6 pm-2 am, daily
Price
: Fair to pricey
