As a city over 200 years old (and still growing,)
Bangkok is a combination of ancient and modern
times. Meaning, there are 200+ years old
temples versus the 20th century skyscrapers all in
one city.
If you divide Bangkok into 3 zones, old
Bangkok, new
Bangkok, and Chinatown;
you can easily explore the different
sights of the city. Old Bangkok is
a preserved area concentrated with old
buildings, temples, and palaces.
New Bangkok is packed with skyscrapers,
world class shopping malls, night
markets, etc. Chinatown,
sandwiched between the 2 zones, is mixed
with old and new Bangkok in a Chinese
environment.
It is recommended to sight-see
Bangkok by zone so as to save your time
from run around here and there. (Not to
mention the heat and
traffic.)
